khtucsonAt Kindred Healthcare, we consider ourselves fortunate to call Tucson, Arizona one of our homes. Our 51-bed transitional care hospital, located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, allows us to offer long-term acute care to medically complex patients in the Tucson area. Many of our patients come to us with serious medical conditions that require a coordinated, specialized approach from our dedicated team of professionals. Ultimately, we often find that many of our patients will benefit from an extended recovery, which allows our physicians to see the patients daily, consistently reviewing their progress to ensure that each patient reaches his/her highest level of functional independence when they leave our facility.

Ranked in the top 20 of the country's 99 long-term acute hospitals, we pride ourselves on the level of care we provide to each and every patient. With approximately 175 employees (including full and part-time employees and PRNs), our Tucson team is fully equipped and experienced in the services below, ready and waiting to nurse you back to health. We hear time and time again that our staff greet patients and their families with open arms, welcoming everyone that walks in our doors into our family.

    Services provided in Tucson:

    • Pulmonary care
    • Complex wound care
    • Dialysis
    • ICU or Special Care Units
    • IV antibiotic therapy
    • Rehabilitation services
    • Pain management

Our employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, as well as access to our Education Assistance Program for both full and part-time employees. We find continued education and professional development immensely important in maintaining the utmost quality of patient care. That's why we offer Critical Care classes for nurses that are interested. In addition, many of our nurses find that each day is a learning experience that allows them to grow as a healthcare provider. As one nurse said, "I like working at Kindred because I get more experience and learn better by working with a professional team. We get high acuity patients that require close monitoring and care - I am constantly learning so much."

Many employees find they enjoy working with us because of the people and pace, while others enjoy the benefit of twelve-hour shifts. So no matter what you're looking for in a work environment, you'll find it here. As one employee said, "I am so blessed to work in a friendly environment. I learn at work every single day, and I look forward to many more years here."

khtucson2What makes our facilities unique is the pride that comes from bringing patients back to health, in addition to seeing the joy it brings to their family and friends. What's more, combining this pride with the great city of Tucson makes it easy to see why our employees are so upbeat.

The second largest city in Arizona and the 33 rd largest city in the United States, Tucson is home to nearly 150 companies involved in optics manufacture and design - hence why it has received the nickname of "Optics Valley." Along with a growing optics industry, Tucson has a thriving technology industry, with companies like IBM, Intuit, Honeywell Aerospace and Texas Instruments as top employers in the region.

Home to the University of Arizona, Tucson is known for its hiking trails and growing downtown area (with great shopping). Interested in local theater? Check out the U of A affiliated theater or the well-known Arizona Theater Company! Other cultural and adventurous attractions include the Tucson Rodeo, the Pima Air & Space Museum, the Reid Park Zoo and the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Interested in sports? Tucsonans love to cheer on the UA Wildcats!

We strive to meet our patients' (and their families') needs each and every day, and we're thrilled to know that 96% of them are highly likely to recommend Kindred as a result. At Kindred, our attention to patient care is truly one of the reasons we've been successful. Join our team  (, provide invaluable care, and partake in the exhilaration and countless activities that come with living in Tucson.
