    Kindred Receives American Lung Association Award

    KINDRED HEALTHCARE, INC. RECEIVES AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION AWARD FOR RAISING MORE THAN $1 MILLION FOR THE ORGANIZATION

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 6, 2015) – On behalf of Kindred and its employees, Benjamin A. Breier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (“Kindred” or the “Company”) (NYSE:KND) , today accepted a special plaque from the American Lung Association commemorating the Company’s milestone of raising $1 million for the American Lung Association.
     
    The award, presented by the national American Lung Association President and Chief Executive Officer Harold Wimmer, recognizes Kindred for its monetary and clinical support of the American Lung Association’s mission to improve lung health and prevent lung disease. The award was presented during the quarterly board meeting of the Midland States charter of the American Lung Association held at the Kindred Support Center in Louisville.

    “The American Lung Association is pleased to recognize and thank Kindred Healthcare for their commitment to supporting our important mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease,” said Wimmer. “To demonstrate their commitment, Kindred became our first national corporate team in 2012, and has raised more than $1 million through our signature events to help support research, education and advocacy. The Kindred organization has been a valued partner and we are grateful for their continued support.”
     
    In the American Lung Association’s fiscal year ending in 2015, Kindred and its employees raised more than $316,000 through organizing and participating in fundraising walks, cycling adventures and climbs across the country. The Company also shares the American Lung Association’s goals to improve lung health, and works to achieve those goals as the nation’s largest employer of respiratory therapists and the recognized leader in pulmonary care.
