Kindred Healthcare Acquires Promise Hospital in Los Angeles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 2, 2019) – Kindred Healthcare, LLC (“Kindred”) today announced that it has acquired Promise Hospital of East Los Angeles from Promise Healthcare Group, LLC. On February 21, 2019, Kindred was selected as the winning bidder for the hospital, which has been renamed Kindred Hospital Paramount.

Kindred has been working with the former Promise employees to transition them to Kindred Hospital Paramount. In addition, Kindred has been collaborating with the hospital’s medical staff to ensure continuity of care for current and future patients who require the specialized care that Kindred provides.

Kindred Hospital Paramount, located in the city of Paramount in Greater Los Angeles, is a 177-bed hospital specializing in long-term acute care (“LTAC”) services. In addition to traditional LTAC services such as respiratory care, advanced wound care and rehabilitation therapies, the hospital provides full in-house radiology and interventional radiology services and broad-based surgical procedures.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Kindred to expand in an important market,” said Benjamin A. Breier, Kindred’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the addition of Kindred Hospital Paramount, Kindred now operates 12 LTAC hospitals in the Southern California market.”

“Adding a new hospital will allow us to meet the demand for our services in the Los Angeles area,” said Pete Kalmey, President of Kindred’s Hospital Division. “Kindred Hospital Paramount, its employees and medical staff will enhance our ability to deliver care where and when patients need it, and deliver effective solutions for our healthcare partners.”
