Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown Celebrates 'Topping Out' of New Surgery and Critical Care Tower

NASHVILLE Tenn. – Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown hosted an intimate celebration on Thursday to commemorate the 'topping out' of the new Surgery and Critical Care Tower and the ongoing construction progress of the Rehabilitation Hospital in partnership with Kindred Healthcare.

These projects are part of an overall campus transformation or “Midtown Modernization” that encompasses more than $300 million in investments. Physician-led clinical program development and every aspect of the patient experience have been considered in the creation of this hospital of the future. Priorities include ease of access, enhanced wayfinding, boutique retail experiences, dedicated underground parking for each new building, and technology-enabled communication zones.

To honor the crucial role of our caregivers in our mission to provide high-quality care to our community and their inspiration in the design of the Midtown Modernization, Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown physicians and associates were invited to sign the final steel beam before it was placed atop the Surgery and Critical Care Tower during the ceremony.

Thursday’s celebration took place on the 9th-floor rooftop of the parking garage at 222 22nd Avenue North. Private hard-hat tours were given directly following the ceremony. The event was emceed by Jonathan Hutton, Host of OutKick 360 on FOX Outkick Network. Leaders from Ascension Saint Thomas, Medxcel, Kindred Healthcare, Turner Construction, and Gresham Smith were also in attendance, including: Tim Adams, president and CEO, Ascension Saint Thomas; Dr. Shubhada Jagasia, president and CEO, Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown; Greg Pope, chief mission officer, Ascension Saint Thomas; Father Calin Tamiian, spiritual care director, Ascension Saint Thomas; Russ Bailey, president, Kindred Rehabilitation Services; and Matt Keahey, national vice president of operations, Medxcel.
