Compliance

Kindred’s Compliance Department aims to be a trusted partner in fostering integrity, transparency, accountability and a culture of compliance that protects the reputation, mission, vision and values of Kindred Healthcare. Our approach to compliance is a comprehensive effort to promote ethical and legal behavior that ensures quality of care for patients and compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. In addition to detecting and preventing fraud, waste, abuse and policy violations, our Compliance Program also provides Kindred employees and contractors with resources to help guide conduct and report their concerns.

To promote compliance with laws, regulations and policies, Kindred has established formal systems, processes and compliance committees at every level of the organization, from our facilities and locations to the Board of Directors. The program is administered by the Compliance Department – which functions independently of Kindred’s operating divisions – and is headed by the Chief Compliance Officer, who reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Kindred’s Compliance Program is responsible for:

  • Understanding the rules and regulations that govern the company business lines;
  • Partnering with operations to ensure a culture of compliance;
  • Designing and implementing controls to protect against identified risks;
  • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of those controls;
  • Resolving compliance difficulties as they occur;
  • Working collaboratively with operations on any required corrective measures; and
  • Validating the efficacy of corrective measures.
