Visitor Information

Visiting Hours

We ask that visitors arrive after 10 a.m. so our team members can complete their morning round of care in the most efficient manner. Visiting hours end at 8 p.m. If you have any special needs or requests related to visitation, please speak to the Nursing Supervisor. Children under 12 years old are not permitted to visit without prior approval of the Nursing Supervisor.

A Special Note to Our Visitors

Your visits mean a lot to your loved one, so we encourage you to visit often. For your own health and safety, as well as that of your loved ones and our team members, we ask that you please wash your hands when entering and leaving the room, and follow the direction of any special isolation precautions posted through the hospital.

Your Case Manager can provide a current list of hotels in the area for your visitors who live out of town.

Entrances and exits are secured from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. For access to the building during these hours, please go to the ambulance entrance and ring the buzzer.

Cafeteria

Our cafeteria is located on the first floor off of the main lobby. We provide a continental-style breakfast from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. and a full-course lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Vending machines in the cafeteria provide snacks and drinks around the clock.

Parking and Security

Parking spaces are provided for visitors in the lot on the east side of the hospital. While we strive to provide security for all areas of the hospital, we cannot be responsible for loss, damage, fire or theft of any vehicle parked on the hospital property. If you wish to be escorted to and from the parking lot, please contact the security guard. Please observe the "Handicapped Only" parking designations.

Because the safety of you and your loved ones is important to us, we strive to make our facility as safe as possible. Trained security staff is on duty at the hospital from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily. If you wish to speak to a security officer, or if there is an emergency, please call the Nursing Supervisor or ask your attending nurse to contact a security officer for immediate issues.

Smoking Policy

Kindred Hospital St. Petersburg is a smoke-free facility. Visitors may smoke only outside in the designated area. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the hospital building.

Grievances

Our goal is to ensure a high-quality care experience for you and your loved ones. Please report any issues to our Patient Relations Representative or the Nursing Supervisor. If your concern continues, please contact administration to complete the formal grievance procedure.

Patient and Family Education

Our interdisciplinary team strives to educate you and your loved one so that you may fully benefit from the healthcare interventions provided by our staff. For specific educational information, please contact your nurse or the Nursing Supervisor. Education may include, but is not limited to:

  • Understanding your loved one’s health status and healthcare options
  • Participating in decision-making about healthcare optionsTeaching procedures that will have to be continued in the home such as the safe and effective use of medication and equipment
  • Distributing information about potential food/drug interactions and modifying diets as appropriate
  • Providing support and resources to help you cope with your loved one’s health status

Patient Care Conferences

Patient care conferences are held regularly to discuss the progress and goals of you or your loved one. Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Rehab Services, Social Services and any other needed disciplines are involved in these conferences, which allows questions and feedback to be addressed with clarity. You may schedule a conference with the physician and the healthcare team at any time. Please work with you Case Manager or Patient Representative to coordinate.

Gifts and Gratuities

Although our team members are not allowed to accept gifts and gratuities, we certainly appreciate your kind words. If you would like to write letter of thanks to be posted prominently within the hospital, please give it to your loved one's Patient Representative or Nursing Supervisor.
