Respite Care for Family Caregivers

Respite care is primarily relief for family members who have been providing much of the care for an older adult or disabled loved one. It is often needed in temporary, limited, or occasional short term situations. Since there are no contracts with our home care services, families can set up a flexible schedule or even a one-time respite session when needed.

Are you planning a trip? Would you like a short time block of assistance on a regular weekly or monthly basis? It is important for you to take care of yourself, as well as those for whom you are providing ongoing care to avoid caregiver burnout. Respite care is a perfect solution for preplanned as well as unexpected situations, where additional professional support provides peace-of-mind.

Respite Gives Family Caregivers a Break

Care needs often increase as an older adult ages, and can put increased stress on primary family caregivers. Respite care can cover the full range of personal home care assistance, lifting some of the burden, including:

  • Bathing and personal care
  • Transportation to appointments, errands and other outings
  • Keeping the home clean and safe
  • Assistance and companionship when the family is out of town
  • Medication reminders, so that regimens are not interrupted
  • Grocery shopping and meal preparation

Our Care Managers can work with the family to set up a scheduled plan of care, or provide single, short term assistance. With complete flexibility, respite care is one of our primary ways to help families deal with the complex challenges of caring for older adults.

Compassionate, Attentive Respite Care

With respite care, keeping your loved one safe in their own home or on escorted outings is our major goal. We can also provide companionship and monitoring for safety during hospital stays. Attentive care reduces the risk of falls and other accidents. We are here to provide whatever level of support you need, and are devoted to the total health and happiness of each client.
