On the Road to Recovery
Solomon was admitted to Kindred Hospital after a stay at a general hospital where he was treated for respiratory failure and postoperative quadriparesis - a condition in which all four limbs suffer from debilitating weakness accompanied by sensory loss.

When he arrived he was evaluated by an interdisciplinary team consisting of physical, respiratory and occupational therapists, as well as speech, nursing and dedicated physicians. Solomon required complete assistance for every level of self-care and mobility and completely dependent on a feeding tube for his nutrition. He was unable to speak as he was on full ventilator support, yet he maintained a positive attitude and a ready smile from the start and during his stay at Kindred and made significant progress towards recovering his quality of life.
Within a month he was weaned off the ventilator, and was able to use adaptive equipment to assist in is daily care. He was able to communicate again using a speaking valve and resume eating a modified diet. In addition, Solomon demonstrated much improved independent muscle balance and was able to be released to a rehab facility to continue his journey to recovery.
